No.G Too Good to Be Gluten Free - Sausage Roll*

I know I have only just done a post on the No.G pork pie, but these are fresh foods and I really want to get these reviews up before Christmas, so you have time to get hold of them for the festive season, as lets face it, pastry is what Christmas food is all about!

Like the pork pie, this is a good sized sausage roll, suitable for lunch or even with some mash and beans for dinner! It would also be fab cut into bitesize pieces on the boxing day buffet table. With seasonings such as ground white pepper, lemon juice, ground coriander, mushroom extract, ground nutmeg and ground clove, the sausage meat is very flavoursome and very well seasoned, but not overpowered by spices.

Like all pastry products, these are quite calorie laden, one roll is 410 calories with 28.6g of fat of which 12.5g are saturated. But if you can't indulge at Christmas, when can you? In comparison to  the DS/Schar sausage rolls I would certainly pick these as firstly they are fully baked so will not take as long to warm up, they also they have a much more flakey pastry, representative to a true mainstream sausage roll. Nevertheless they are both great products just No.G top the convenience factor and also are larger so at 2 for £5 are a much better value.

The pastry is something that particularly stands out to me. So light and flakey, like a true puff pastry, which is something all other brands creating sausage rolls I have tried have not quite mastered. It's buttery and light and just such a beautiful texture. The taste is also as you would expect. When I saw the pastry looked perfect, I was certain the taste would be compromised, as it seems to me a lot of the time one or the other has to be lacking, even if it is only slightly. But I was wrong, there was not dryness on the back of my throat or powdery taste or any bitter aftertaste. So it was an all round fantastic pastry recipe!

Two of these rolls were sent to me to try, so I decided to try one hot and one cold and they were lovely both ways and it is honestly down to preference to how you wish to eat this, rather than having to heat it to make it change to a more pleasant texture, which is something we sometimes have to do with breads and pastry.

If you have a Sainsbury's locally who stock No.G or ordering from Ocado, I'd recommend popping these in your basket quickly!

Have a fab Christmas

Saks Fifth Avenue - Gluten Free Menu

As some of you may have noticed, I have not been blogging for a little while, this is because I have been in New York! James and I went for a mini break for five nights and trust me, we spent WAY too much!

Whilst we were there James proposed in Central Park and to celebrate we went to have lunch at Saks. The menu is fantastically laid out, with all the gluten free meals having a star next to them as it is very clear what is and isn't gluten free. As it is so close to Christmas, it was their festive menu on offer. I chose the Turkey Cob salad, a festive take on a salad is not something I've seen before!

The salad itself consisted of mixed leaves, cherry tomatoes, crispy bacon cubes, roasted turkey, crumbled blue cheese, crumbled egg and a salad dressing. It was quite refreshing and made a nice lighter choice compared to typical rich christmas food!

The salad was so fresh and with the succulent roasted turkey, this salad was perfection! I particularly enjoyed the creamy blue cheese and crumbled egg as this is quite an unique element, which I've not seen before together! Combined with salty crisp bacon, this salad had complex tastes and textures to create what I feel is the best salad I have ever eaten! It didn't feel like just a boring salad which on paper sounds fabulous but in reality is not as expected, but more of a whole meal with a real depth of flavours.

The aspect I enjoyed the most is that taste or texture has not been compromised to be gluten free, which is how food should be, gluten should not be needed to add flavour or texture, so many fresh natural gluten free ingredients can make delicious meals!

I hope you all had a great couple of weeks whilst I was away!

No.G - Too Good to Be Gluten Free - Pork Pie*

Last week I was sent a few bits to try from No.G. Branding as 'Too good to be gluten free' is something that highlights their confidence in their products, and they really should be as I got increasing nervous whilst eating this pork pie that maybe I had picked up the wrong one, because the pastry was perfection!

Described as a gluten free hot water pastry with seasoned British Pork, this pie seems to be dairy free too, the only bold is egg, which I assumed was used to glaze the pastry. The pie is ready to eat, so no need to heat and there is a good amount of it!

Retailing at the £2.50ish price mark, this pie is quite large, and could be cut into four as part of a buffet, as well as a larger single portion or even shared between two, with salad for lunch or as part of a dinner! At 391 calories, and 26g of fat, 10g of which saturated, this is most certainly something you do not want to be eating everyday. I would say though if you are looking for a treat or a pork pie for your Christmas buffet, I would 100% recommend these ones over the mini ones that M&S have, as they have a much harder, drier pastry. This pastry has a better natural crumble and even the meat tastes of better quality as well as the all important jelly which lacks in the M&S pies. But don't worry it is not overloaded either like cheap mainstream ones, I feel that ratios are perfect.

The texture itself is how I remember a mainstream pork pie. The glazed pastry has structure but you can still cut or bite into it without struggling or it crumbling apart. The flavour is subtle and a good classic pastry, with no after taste or powderiness, which is one of my bug bares with free from pastry. Sometimes I avoid pastry as it can feel that you are eating cardboard, this so isn't the case with these pork pies, it's extremely refreshing to find such a high quality free from pastry.

The meat is as you would expect from a pork pie, very dense and compact in texture. The black pepper and nutmeg used to season brings out the flavour and add a little warmth and character to the pie, very much perfect for the festive season as it feels like a true filling comfort food!

I have found theses on Ocardo online and Sainburys also have some of the range, but my local Sainsbury's does not stock any and the online store only has a couple of options, so if I were you I would opt for looking at Ocardos range as they seem to be the better stockist.

I would love to know if you try the range and what you think. When I reorder I will have to get a few, as I had to fight  all the gluten eaters for mine once they saw them!

Gluten Free Christmas Gift Ideas!

Finding something foodie but thoughtful for those with allergies isn't always the easiest, so when I was making some raffle prizes for my local drama group, it got me thinking... Everything I made was naturally gluten free anyway! So I thought I would share!

Hot Chocolate Reindeers
Super simple and effective! For this all you need is your preferred hot chocolate and some marshmallows. In terms of decoration, I used cone shaped cellophane bags, red pompoms, wiggly eyes and pipe cleaners!

All you do is pop a serving of hot chocolate in the cone, top with marshmallows and tie up! Then you add the pompom nose and eyes, done! So easy and makes this so much more interesting than a tub of hot chocolate, perfect for childrens stocking stuffers!

Sweetie Wine Glass
Pick out the recipients favourite gluten free sweeties and in layers add these to a wine glass, here I just used the basic 4 for £1 wine glasses, but you can use the large ones! once this has been done get some food safe cellophane and some floristry ribbon and tie them up! This gift can cost as little as £1 each but looks so thoughtful!

Chocolate Pint Glass
Something for the men! Chocolate pint glasses, just the same as the sweetie wine glasses, just with bitesize chocolate! Of course you can fill these with sweets too, or the wine glasses with chocolate, but this was just my preferred way! This one is mainly filled with Cadburys but any gluten free and dairy free chocolate can be used!

All of these can be tailored to more allergies, it just depends on what you pop in them!

No G - Too Good to be Gluten Free Haul*

Today I have received some goodies from No.G -Too Good to be Gluten Free. When they reached out to me on twitter I didn't know what to pick first as all their products seem so good! I have seen them at the allergy show once before, but travelling on the tube, I wasn't sure if they would make the long journey home!

After much deliberation I decided on the sausage rolls, as I wanted to be able to compare these to other brands that I have tried. As sausage rolls are popular and somewhat a staple in a lot of gluten eaters diet, I thought it would be a great place to start. This is the same reason why I picked pork pies as I have tried the likes of M&S and I wanted to see how they compare!

The crustless garden vegetable quiche was completely an indulgent choice. Before I was diagnosed I used to love a broccoli and feta quiche from the Morrisons deli. This quiche has a medley of green vegetables and topped with feta and pine kernels, which I love too! This is such a unique gluten free product, very much like products I see in my M&S for the mainstream audience.

I feel that the quality and flavour are the main focus of their brand, which is something that really refreshing and appeals to me, as there is only so many fish cakes, chicken burgers and nuggets one person can eat! No.G make more unique lunch and dinner options, and as a foodie some pre-packed free from food can be quite plain in flavouring, presumably to cater masses, but this more niche section of gluten free eating has a demand too!

A range of their products are available on Sainsbury's online and Ocado, currently Sainsburys limited range is on offer for £2 each, Ocado have the full range for 2 for £5. As these are individually packed I think that these are reasonably priced, particularly for the quality and amount of ingredients used.

On first impressions, I am very excited to try these products and no doubt there will be in depth reviews!

What's in my Snackly! - December 2015

We have hit a year of Snackly! And I have to apologise in advance for my quick iPhone snap, but when you are faced with Honeyrose choc chip cookies, you just have to eat them straight away... If you have no will power that is!

When you fist open the box you will see a small thank you card for supporting their first year, but I'm sure you'll all agree we are just as thankful for them posting new treats through the door each month, opening us to new brands and small sized snacks, perfect for the single gluten free whose surrounded by gluten eaters!

So without further ado, lets see what's in this months box!!

Honeyrose Organic Triple Chocolate Cookies
I guess I will have to mention this one first as it is clearly my favourite in the box as I had no will power and ate it... Straight after I felt terrible though as I then remembered last time I had this I forgot to review it and told myself I must take a nice picture next time I got one. Which clearly didn't happen! Sorry Honeyrose! But this biscuit has a softer texture as there is large rich chocolate chunks which mixes so well with the crisper biscuit mix. If you see these anywhere I would 100% recommend them!

The Protein Ball co. - Protein Ball
I got a pack of these in October's box, I have been saving these as I am the secretary to a local Am Dram group and our panto is this week, so with organising tickets, raffle prizes and all the masses of paperwork, I thought these would be great for the three days we do the performances as I tend to be rushed off my feet and don't get chance to eat much, I have two bags now, so that's even better, so we will see what they are like!

The Melting pot - Salted Caramel Fudge
I was hoping the Melting Pot would make an appearance soon! Rich, smooth fudge is one of my favourite treats, I believe we had the chocolate flavour and the plain one before, so salted caramel sounds perfect to me! I have a craft fair on Sunday... I know I'm crazy, four panto performances in three days, followed by a craft fair! Bu I think when I get home on Sunday, I will pop on a Christmas film, decorate the tree and sit down with a hot choccy and this fudge... Heaven!

The Foods of Athenry - Multiseed Gourmet Crackers
Around 6 months ago these crackers made an appearance, I really enjoyed them then. You can see my review here! I am glad they are back in the Snackly box, and as it is wintery, I have half a pot of tomato soup in my fridge, I think I will grab some butter and have this for lunch tomorrow!

Snact - Apple and Mango Fruit Jerky
Something new from Snackly, I imagine these to be a bit like those fruit bowl fruit flakes, only bigger and maybe not coated in sugar! If so I will love these! Under 65 calories a bag, these are the perfect on the go fruit snack, because lets face it a sticky apple or orange isn't always convenient to eat on the go, particularly for someone like me who sells jewellery and fabric hairbows at craft fairs, sticky fingers and my handmade products don't mix well!

We also got another Teapigs sample, this month I got the chocolate and mint, which is my all time favourite flavour of theirs, so I am over the moon! I like the sample of tea that's been included, particularly over the winter months, as I am a very seasonal eater!

I hope you enjoyed your last snakily box of the year! Let's see what Snackly has in store for the next year!

Genius Gluten Free - English Muffins

After realising I am just not a crumpet person, I have thought I would give some english muffins a go! I am currently in a shop the cupboard phase as I have accumulated too much food! Anything I find interesting and think you would all like to see, I just buy it, leaving me with huge piles of food! I am on a mission to get through it all and as a lot is porridge and other warming food, it's the perfect season!

I did treat myself to some bread though as I was getting a little bored of the lack of it, so I opted that these did not have too many in the pack, just a welcome treat!

These muffins are very squeezable, which is a very well trusted test for me! If the bread has a nice bounce, it tends to be lovely and airy, not dry and crumbly. So I was very pleased when I cut these open and they had a beautiful texture!

Toasted for a couple of minutes on each side, these muffins cook perfectly and become lovely and crisp. I have had these plain, with black pepper cream cheese and with scrambled egg and salmon and I have to say they do not become soggy even with a topping which has more moisture to it, which is fab, as many gluten free breads turn quite pappy when a wetter substance is added, but these held up really well.

A pack retails at £2.25 and has 4 in a pack making each muffin making each muffin around 57p each, which in gluten free terms is not too bad. As well as being gluten free these muffins are also milk free, but do contain egg. Each muffin is 121 calories so are great option as there is a lot of bread and is quite filling, they are relatively low in fat and sugar too compared to many other free from breads I have tried!

Overall I think these are fantastic on value, quality, taste and texture and I honestly could have eaten the whole pack just with butter as the flavour was perfect. I would 100% buy these again once I have eaten through my cupboard and my freezer!

Schar Gluten Free - Sausage Roll

Since DS and their sister company Schar have combined, I have taken the opportunity to give some more of their products a go! I think I had these a few years back, but wasn't too impressed. But I think that was partly down to me over baking!

So I gave them a second go, and I am pleased to say I am much more impressed this time, they are fantastic, I also baked them differently. As I have been taking these to work I have been baking the night before in the oven and then when at work I microwave for a minute or so on a plate with a paper towel on to absorb any condensation, keeping the pastry crisp!

The flavour of this product is lovely, the sausage meat is succulent and flavoursome, with a seasoning that brings the flavour to life. The pastry is quite understated, which I find in terms of gluten free is a good thing, countless times I have had pastry with the oddest aftertaste, which has ruined it's accompaniments. I am pleased that this pastry is just a crisp coating for the sausage meat.

I would certainly buy these again and as they are frozen it allows you to just have them on hand if you need a quick lunch or as Christmas is getting closer, those who drop in and you need to find something to feed them, cut into four or five pieces these could even be part of a buffet!

For around 232 calories I find that these sausage rolls are quite filling and I have either had a side salad or a fruit pot, sometimes even both afterwards! There is 13g fat per roll, but with pastry and sausage meat, this I feel is to be expected. So although quite low in calories, there is a considerable amount of fat. Something which is fine in moderation, just don't make it part of your daily diet!

For two sausage rolls, these retail at £2 per pack, there is always coupons to be found at shows and online, which tends to mean you can buy them in bulk once coupons have been circulated. I had a £2 coupon in the post recently, so you could even get them free! Even if you do not have a coupon, £1 per pre-made sausage roll isn't too bad considering it is a convenience food. Also with these higher price points to gluten free food, I find I tend to eat much healthier too, as I bulk out everything with fruit and veg!

I would love to know what you have tried from Schar, I have to say I have had some of the biscuits and have been very impressed too!

What's in My Snackly box?

It's November Snackly box time! This month there was no card in the box and from what I see no real theme, just great snacks! So without furthermore lets see what I got in my box!

Honeybuns Mini's - Milk Chocolate Brownie - RRP £1.05
You all know by now my love of Honeybuns, I have a few of their gifts on my Christmas list! The milk chocolate brownie is a classic and is an all time favourite of mine. Made with chocolate, coffee and almonds, what's not to love?

Quibbles - Sour Cream and Onion Cashews - RRP £0.90
Sour cream and onion is one of my favourite flavourings so seeing cashews coated in this flavouring is exciting! 179 calories for this whole pack, this is a great snack packed with protein!

Gnaw Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate - RRP £2.50 full Bar
A salted caramel Gnaw bar was in the box a few months ago but I wasn't actually too keen on the flavour, I think that there was a little too much salt, which made the caramel taste burnt, but my family liked it so it may be just me! I LOVE LOVE LOVE peanut butter, so I think that this is a great bar to give Gnaw a second go! The whole bar is 280 calories so if you wanted a treat evening I think you could get away with eating the whole thing!

Zoot Enduro - Cashew Supreme - RRP £1.50
Claiming to help maintain your energy, this bar looks very much like a Nakd bar in packaging and size. The ingredients are peanuts, cashews, dates, sultanas, sunflower seeds and vegetable glycerine, meaning they are quite clean! 160 calories and being free from gluten and dairy and being high fibre and a source of protein, it seems to be good all round!

Peace of Cake London - Abricotini - RRP £12 for full bag
Free from gluten, wheat, lactose and dairy, the only allergen this product seems to have is egg. I have no other way to describe these but as little soft cake like biscuits! I think I had these in a box before but the were snaffled off me before I had chance to try, so I will make sure little fingers won't reach these! On the website they seem to be layered with jam and stuck together much like a macaron.

Lastly we got another teapigs tea, this month I have got everyday brew!

I would love to know what you got in your Snackly box!

Tesco Free From Tiger Rolls

Never has gluten free eating felt so normal as it has over the last year. It seems everyone is moving in leaps and bounds to make a substitute in everything! I saw these rolls in Devon but it was on my last day so I didn't want to bring them all the way back! But I have only just managed to find them in stock in my local shop!

In packs of four, these rolls are perfect to cover a whole week of lunches for work as there's not too many so they don't go off before you manage to eat them all! I also think that for £2 is a fantastic price as this is only 50p per roll.

There are 208 calories per roll and 1.8g sugar, which I think sounds like quite a bit, although there is 3.2g fibre, which in all accounts is quite high for a white bread roll, which is fantastic and it is low in salt. I find most things are fine in moderation but I do like to check as sometimes free from food have a habit to surprise! I guess there needs to be a compromise somewhere!

Free from milk, wheat and gluten, these rolls do not compromise on flavour, they have a great texture and do not need to be filled with sandwich fillers that would add moisture to distract from dryness, as there isn't any.

Flavour wise, these rolls obviously do not have the fresh mainstream bread flavour, but at the same time they are not noticeably gluten free, there is not an odd aftertaste and they even look right! There is a light sweetness to the bread, but not overly so , mainly on the top and sides, where I believe there is an egg glaze. The texture is more dense and have visible air pockets, but these are like size of an Areo bar bubbles, there is no huge holes and they are quite light so are not stodgy and too much.

Find the ingredients here:
Tapioca Starch, Water, Rice Flour, Potato Starch, Rapeseed Oil, Humectants(Glycerine), Psyllium Husk Powder, Dried Egg White, Yeast, Thickener (Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose), Dextrose, Potato Fibre, Salt, Preservative (Calcium Propionate), Sugar, Emulsifier (Mono- and Di-Glycerides of Fatty Acids).

You are also able to freeze these roll, so if you would prefer to save these as you cannot eat the same thing everyday like myself, it is ok to freeze these, although I do not know how they will change in texture once defrosted.

This week I have not only had these with soup, but my new favourite lunch is one roll with some cured ham, butter and iceberg, simple I know, but these rolls are so tasty and it all compliments one another beautifully.

When I first changed my diet , you only found tiny loaves of dry bread, so it's fantastic so much is becoming available!

Schar Haul - Stocking up for Christmas!

My last post told you Schar had sent me a coupon. I also had a few coupons from the allergy show I was saving for Christmas. As the products now have days that'll last way through Christmas I though I would buy a couple of bits.

Here's what I got!

  • Chocolix x2 - £2.50 each
  • Bourbons - £1.50
  • Sausage rolls x2 - £2
  • Puff Pastry - £2.50
  • Pretzels x2 - £1 each
As a self confessed coupon addict I had a coupon to cover part payment of each item, I used the £2 coupon I got in the post, a £1 coupon I was emailed, 3 x 50p off cupboard goods and 3 x 75p off frozen foods. meaning I used £6.75 worth of coupons! Making £15 worth of Schar food only £8.25, under £10 for indulgent gluten free food is fantastic!

I would love to know what you have brought recently!

Schar Products - Where are they stocked?

If you were signed up to the DS gluten free mailing list, like myself, you have more than likely had a high value £2 coupon pop through your letter box for Schar. With this coupon they have sent a list of where each product is stocked. I thought I would scan this and post it on my blog for those of you who didn't receive this and would like to find their products!

Also if you get yourself to ASDA with your coupon, you can get a pack of the Chocolix FREE! I in fact got mine in sainsburys as my office is next door and I had a 70p price promise anyway and it would be more than 50p in petrol to get to my local ASDA!

I hope this helps all of you looking for your Schar treats!

M&S Made without Wheat - Turkey, Bacon & Cranberry Sandwich

Christmas has smacked all the food retailers around the face this week! Drinks and sandwiches have popped up in Starbucks, Costa and M&S! I found the M&S made without wheat in store this week so I just had to give it a try.

At around £3.30 this sandwich is packed full of turkey, bacon and a sweet cranberry sauce! I found that it was very good value as it was not something that you could make yourself that well! The whole sandwich was 499 calories so is quite high calories for a single sandwich but the bread is seeded and all the elements are present in good amounts, there is nothing worse that having a half empty sandwich!

Spinach is also in the sandwich which is nice, as many of the mainstream Christmas sandwiches just had meat and such in them, sometimes I think these can be too rich, but with a hint of veg it adds a freshness which lightens the sandwich.

You don't need me to tell you that the flavours combined taste beautiful, as it is a typical combination we all enjoy at christmas. I would say though I was surprised how sweet the cranberry sauce was as they can be quite tart, but this one was almost a jam! Made a great change!

I think that I would even recommend this sandwich to non gluten free people as the bread is great quality and the flavours are phenomenal! Christmas has truly started for me!

They were also available in the cafe!

M&S Made Without Wheat - Caramel and Pecan Squares Mini Review

These poor squares have been in my review note book since the beginning of September, so another mini review today! I had to order these from the website as they do not stock them in store, but as I was ordering buffet platters I seeked the opportunity. Although as I later found out this isn't really necessary as the bar  that looks like this in store is identical, so if you are just wanting these for yourself and not part of a buffet you can find the same equivalent in store.

At 165 calories each, these slices are certainly a treat! The rich homemade style caramel with the crumbly biscuit base with pecan nuts on top, drizzled with chocolate is something thats is truly scrummy! The base is made from plenta, sugar, ground almonds and butter so although crumbly it is not a dry texture, having the caramel to combine this makes it not too messy to eat!

There are 5 in each pack and the packs are brought in twos so you get 10 altogether. This is fantastic for parties on a platter, more so as they are suitable for veggies too! Nuts, milk and soya are the main allergens in this slice, so ensure none of your guests have a nut allergy before adding to your buffet!

All the aspects taste of high quality and nothing less than you would expect from M&S, I would recommend these to anyone as they are a fabulous sweet treat!

Pumpkin Update - Pumpkin Soup!

So my pumpkin had enough to cook with! Yay! I knew I wanted to make a soup. But instead of following a recipe I couldn't find one that I had everything in my cupboards, or were not to my taste so I went with what I thought would go, here's what I came up with!

Ingredients

  • 500g pumpkin
  • 3/4 onion
  • 1/3 bottle white wine
  • salt
  • pepper
  • cinnamon
  • ground pepper
Method

  • Put a dash of oil in a pan and cook down onion followed by the pumpkin
  • Add the salt, pepper, cinnamon and ground pepper to taste
  • Pour the wine and some water into the pan and bring to the boil and then simmer for 30 minutes
  • Blitz the soup until it is smooth and keep on the heat until as thick as you desire.
  • Add any more seasonings to taste.
  • Serve!
Simple as that! This soup is quite fresh and as I had no stock cubes I just found bits I thought would go! It turned out quite well but of course you can add milk or cream if you wish, but I prefer soups which are more of a broth style! And for under 500 calories in one batch which can serve two for lunch or one dinner, it is a fantastic healthy choice!

Happy Halloween!

Nature's Store Swiss Chocolate Muesli

Weekday breakfasts are always the hardest meal of the day I tend to wake up uninspired as to what I want as I know I have to rush out the door, rushing and eating isn't a combination I do well, particularly if I make something I want to share with you all, as I spend hours photographing them!

So when I saw Nature's Store Swiss Chocolate Muesli on The Witt Family's vlog quite some time ago I thought it would be something I would love to try to replace my usual boring toast. I had bought some bits in the past from Natures Store at the free from shows and a couple of bits in stores, but never actually saw the muesli. So when the free bag of corn rolls with an order started (which I LOVE) I thought why not order direct and shop the full range!

I always thought Muesli was oats, dried fruits, nuts and other grains so would be quite hard to achieve for the free from market. In fact this muesli is much more like a mixed cereal, and it's made up of what seems to be cornflakes, puffed rice and puffed oat with beautiful dark chocolate swirls interspersed through. Although this isn't what most would expect from a muesli, I have to admit it is the best breakfast cereal type product I think I have eaten since having to change my diet!

The ingredients itself state that there are only cornflakes, rice puffs, gluten free oat pops and swiss chocolate curl, which is fantastic as I can read all those ingredients and I know that there is nothing nasty in my cereal. It is also wheat, gluten and GM free.

Here's the nutritional information:

per 100g :
Energy : 491kJ/ 116 kcal
Protein : 2.0g
Carbohydrates : 24.1g
(of which are sugars) : 5.5g
Fat 1.0g
(of which are saturates) : 0.5g
Fibre : 1.0g
Sodium : 0.3g
believe a portion size was 30g which means depending on what type and how much milk you use this breakfast can be well under 100 calories so is great for those who like to have a smaller breakfast so you have plenty of calories for the day!
The flavour of this cereal is very much like if you were to mix cornflakes, puffed rice and sugar puffs together so is quite a plain taste but quite sweet. The welcome hit of dark chocolate is made more prominent because of this adds a richer undertone to the product. Formed into thin curls I feel also enhances the flavoursome chocolate as it snaps and then crumbles in the mouth. If you are the sort that like your milk turned chocolately by cereals, just be warned the milk doesn't take on the chocolate due to being such a dark and solid texture.
I really enjoyed this cereal and would certainly buy it again and seems to be available in a variety of stores. Some actually have it cheaper than Nature's Store do on their site. I got mine for £2.99 online but Tesco.com do have it for £2.50 currently, which I think isn't too unreasonable as this is the typical price for free from cereals, so is what you tend to expect!
I also think this would be great to make crispy treats from making them by coating them in milk chocolate and one they have set dip one side in white melted chocolate, making a dip dye crispy bite, to give a twist to an old classic!
I would love to know what other quick breakfasts you enjoy. I think I may see what else Nature's Store have to offer!

We Went Pumpkin Picking!

For months now we have been looking for something a bit different to do as I don't know about you but we always get caught up doing the same things, mainly shopping! I had been looking for local days out, such as pumpkin picking and when one of the girls that comes to the youth club where I work told me she had been to one just down the road I told James we just had to go!

So Sunday we popped on our boots and headed out to the pumpkin patch. We were there two hours looking through all the pumpkins looking for ones that had a charm to them or a little personality! We finally managed to find some we liked and I even picked up seven mini white ones to do as part of a Halloween craft at the Youth Club! All seven mini ones plus our three large pumpkins only cost us £7 and with free entry it's certainly the cheapest day out we have had in a while.

I am really hoping that my pumpkins will have enough to make some pumpkin soup for a future blog post this week. I did try to find quite heavy ones in hope that there would be more flesh in them! We will see!

All going well and if I have enough I will be popping a soup recipe up this week, if not I will show you what I do with my pumpkin anyway!

Angelic Multi-seed Crackers*

Some more savoury goodies I have been trying today! Angelic Multi-seed Crackers are one of the newer flavours in the range. With whole seeds, these crackers have a fibrous texture and a fresh flavour.

This one stop shop for egg, dairy and gluten free people alike, these crackers are only 88 calories a portion. Perfect for cheese, soups, creating 'snackables' and general eating as they are so plain in flavour!

The cracker itself it quite small, reminds me the size of a hair band, four do make a good sized portion. I find that there is a good amount of seeds in the cracker, but unlike some seedy crackers these hold their structure and haven't affected their integrity. Like all Angelic products these have the same crispy crunchy cracker texture which snaps fantastically but doesn't crumble. Slightly drier in texture but not overly so making them hard to eat.

The flavour itself is quite plain but the seeds add a touch of interest, making this the ideal cracker to have with almost anything as there is nothing powerful which would overpower or taste peculiar. I have had these with broccoli and stilton soup, cream cheese and tomato, salmon and Philadelphia and much more and each concoction has been better than the last. Even with just some butter is a fab snack!

Available in Holland and Barrett a box of crackers retails for £2.60 currently which is a fantastic deal as I get around 6 portions from one box I believe, so under 50p a portion! I would recommend trying these if you are looking for a plain cracker for everyday or even something ready for your Christmas cheese board as it's fast approaching!

Udis - Cheddar and Garlic Bagel Chips

After whats seems like months of searching, I finally found the Udis Cheddar and Garlic bagel chips on the Holland and Barrett website. I have had the plain ones for some time and really wanted to try the flavoured ones.

A box costs £3.50 and has 170g, which is a good amount of product, certainly enough to pop in a bowl for a sharing snack with some dips in front of a film! Free from what seems almost everything other than milk means that almost everyone can enjoy this snack.

The texture of the chips are the same as the plain variety, have a snap and very crunchy, very comparable to croutons in texture, just flat, not square! They would be perfect to dip in tomato soup too!

The flavouring is a dusting on the top of the chips so some are more coated than others, which is something I quite enjoy when it comes to crisps or chips, some full of flavour and some not so. The powder itself has a strong flavour and you can certainly tell there is garlic powder in the mix, the cheddar is present too but I tend to find the garlic as the more dominating flavour.

I find these store really well too in an airtight container so although they are perfect to share, it's so easy to portion them out and have the box to yourself!

As always my biggest complaint is this product was so hard to find, like many gluten free food I spend a lot of time looking for the products I want to try! I know not all retailers could stock every item but I wish when newer products are released stores could be more proactive in stocking them!

I would 100% recommend trying these if you can find them as they are a little different and great to dip into melted cheese, dips and soup!

M&S - Popcorn Bar Mini Review

Popcorn covered in white chocolate? Yes please! New to my M&S store this week was this little beauty sporting a gluten free logo! This bar is caramel, white chocolate covered popcorn with milk chocolate laced over the top. As this is another gluten free product in the regular M&S range, I always recommend looking in there for a bit more unique or hard to find free from food. As there is not too much to say on this bar I thought I would do a mini review and bullet point my views!

Positives

  • This bar is 200 calories, so a perfect option if you are looking for a sweet treat but not go too overboard on calories!
  • There isn't too much chocolate so it is fundamentally a popcorn bar, rather than a chocolate bar!
  • The white chocolate makes this bar much lighter in taste than milk chocolate would.
  • The bar is the normal snack sizes ones you find in M&S so you can feel you join in on cake day!
Would be even better if
  • If they sold them in multipacks, the same style you get KitKats or and cereal bars I would certainly buy them!
  • I think they would also be fantastic sold as squares with mix and match chocolate, for example white chocolate, laced with milk, milk laced with dark and dark laced with white.
I hope you liked a different approach to a mini weekly review, I thought it would suit the style of post as I only have a quick hidden iPhone snap from work!

Whole Creations Gluten Free Spiced Chicken Pizza

Sunday's are a funny day for me, some months of the year, mainly through spring I have real lazy Sunday's but then the other half I am set building for the local drama group or running my stall at a craft fair. This means quick dinners are a must, or should I say dinner where I don't have to tend to the meal! Standing doing meal prep after a busy day isn't my idea of fun!

Today I tried Whole Creations gluten free spiced chicken pizza. I wanted to give this pizza a go for so long because I feel that is the only 'normal' adult pizza flavour that you can get ready made. I understand you can do anything with cheese and tomato and pepperoni is child safe too, but sometimes it is nice to just be able to pick up a ready made, more interesting pizza. This fills that gap in the market.

This pizza consists of spicy chicken pieces, which are quite large, caramelised onion and red pepper. The caramelised onion is very much like a chutney on a pizza. Odd sounding I know, but honestly this was the best bit of all the topping elements! When looking at the pizza the distribution was very central, as it is frozen you cannot really move anything until it was cooked. I found unlike many other  pizzas in the frozen section, there is a good amount of toppings. The chicken I found could be cut down and spread it over as the large chunks meant there was plenty of chicken to spread around.

The constancy of the pizza base is very similar to other free from pizzas I have had, crispy edges which feel almost like fried bread and a very fluffy middle. The chicken was succulent and not overly spicy, I think children could eat this without being too hot! I think the larger chunks meant it didn't dry out whilst cooking, as chicken on pizza can get dry.

A whole pizza is 714 calories, half a pizza is a serving but I tend to eat the whole thing, as I am the only gluten free one it would be wasted. Although if someone would be happy to share I think this would be great with a side salad of spinach, tomato and cucumber. A whole pizza has a good amount of fibre, which is fantastic, but obviously, with all pizza this is high in fat and carbs, but great for a treat!

Per 1/2 pizza

  • Energy kcal 204
  • Fat 14.5g
  • Of which saturates 6.0g
  • Carbohydrate 44.3g
  • Of which sugars 1.6g
  • Fibre 2.8g
  • Protein 13.5g
  • Salt 1.6g
This pizza seems to not contain any egg ingredients either, so if you cannot eat egg, this could be the pizza for you! Although due to the cheese there is milk!

I really enjoyed this pizza and overall I think it is the best frozen free from pizza I have had. The favours are fantastically unique and for £3 I think this is a fantastic deal for a shop pizza. The only downside to this pizza is that this flavour is a Tesco exclusive, we do shop online at Tesco once a week for bulk items, but this is the first week I have seen it available to order and my delivery comes from a tesco.com centre rather than a store, and a huge one at that! So it may be hard to find!

Now I have got hold of this pizza, I will certainly buy it again!

Angelic Tomato & Mediterranean Herb Crackers*

When I was at the free from show, there were so many new and interesting products to try. I have only just got around to opening these crackers! Crazy I know. I purposely try to get through things  in date order to prevent having too much open and things going bad before I had a chance to try.

I am quite glad I didn't open these earlier though as I know I am going to always have a box of these stashed in the cupboard now. Hands down these are the best free from crackers I have ever eaten by miles! Flavoursome and crisp, these crackers have the perfect combination!

Four crackers is considered to be a serving size, making a portion 85 calories. There is only 0.5g of fibre per serving so I would recommend having these with some fruit, veg or nuts to make the meal more wholesome in nutrients. Being gluten, dairy and egg free. These are perfect for a buffet table, particularly at Christmas. I always have a lot of festive cheeses (if that is a thing!) at Christmas as part of a buffet. These would be fantastic as so many people now have allergies. Being 100% natural too is something I like to look for, I can read all the ingredients and I think it is so important to know what you're eating. I am not against having sweet treats, but for my meals I do tend to like natural, clean foods.

Flavour wise, these crackers are one of the most unique in the free from market. For people who have not had Angelic before, this is now the product I recommend trying first. Using tomato paste and mixed herbs makes the flavours really make a stand on their own. I don't tend to just eat plain crakers, but with these I can. Although this week I have been eating them with an M&S cheese triangle and sliced cherry tomato. You must try it!

The texture is pretty consistent with all Angelic crackers, so you know what to expect. A drier, crisp consistency with a good snap. I don't always like to use the word 'dry' when taking about gluten free food as it brings to mind connotations of hard to eat, crumbly, stodgy food. This is not the case with these crackers, it is a crisp dry bake; not soggy or stale feeling, like the feel of some crackers I have tried.

I believe that these are available in Holland and Barrett, although I do recommend buying online as all of my local Holland and Barrett stores are small and only stock a tiny range. Also many health food stores stock them!

I would love to know what you tend to eat with crackers. Is it a strictly cheese and cracker relationship you have, or do you did them in soup like croutons or just eat them plain with butter?

What's in my Snackly Box? - October 2015

It's that time again, where I share all the goodies that arrived in my snackly box. This month is a little different as the price has been reduced by £1 and we get one less snack. This is to make way for their new service which means you can choose to have your snack box weekly! I think I will still stick to monthly as I don't think I would get through them fast enough, but if there is a few of you sharing the box, I think it's perfect!

So what was in this months box?

Beech's - Anglesey Sea Salt Chocolate - RRP £1.75
I got one of these in a box a few months ago, but I saved it to take on holiday. It actually came home unopened so I now have two of these to dig into! A whole bar is 334 calories, so although looking large it isn't so much difference to a bar like a snickers.

Beyond Dark - Moments of Pleasure - RRP 95p
70% dark chocolate with a hint of orange, these chocolate drops are gluten, wheat, dairy and nut free. 189 calories for the whole bag is one portion size, I think I would split this down into two portions as that is a lot of dark chocolate in one go! I love orange chocolate so I can't wait to try these!

Kent & Fraser - Spicy Ginger Cookies - RRP £2.25 Full Box
We have had these in our box before, they were delicious! Good amount of ginger but not too spicy, so I am looking forward to having these again!

Sassy's Red Velvet - Cashew, Coconut and Pomegranate - RRP £2.25
Something completely new in the box, this 'cake' has no added sugar and is vegan, wheat and gluten free, as well as raw. The only ingredients are cashew nuts, dates, desiccated coconut, beetroot powder, raspberry powder and pomegranate powder. This makes me think that it's be very similar to a Nakd bar. The whole bar is 205 calories.

The Protein Ball Co. - Peanut Butter - RRP £1.69
Made out of dates, date syrup, dried egg white, peanuts and peanut butter, these make a very natural protein snack. This snack is gluten free, no dairy, vegetarian, wheat free, all natural, no GMO's, no soy and no added sugar. One pack contains 158 calories and has 20% of your daily intake of protein. I love peanut butter, so much so I have a jar in my desk, so these are so my kinda snack!

Teapigs - Apple & Cinnamon Tea - RRP £1.30
We also received a sample of a Teapigs tea, I have had the apple and cinnamon before and it is warm and autumnal, so perfect for the season! There is also a £5 discount code on the card!

I would love to know what you got in your Snackly!

M&S Made Without Wheat - Honeycomb Crispy mini review

For mini review Sunday M&S seem to have released a number of these snack bars in the last couple of weeks, from millionaires shortbread to brownies, my local store seems to be filled with them! They are even on 2 for £2!

Honeycomb always speaks to me and so I picked this up to try! I was most certainly not let down! Very much like a luxury version of a crispy cake, these bars have honeycomb which is very similar texture to what you would find in a crunchie. The bar had a good crunch overall and was not packed with hard to get through solid chocolate. Light and airy, this bar had not gone soggy or like a rock, which can be an issue with crispy cakes! There was a hint of caramel to this bar which added some extra interest. Described on the back of the pack as puffed rice and honeycomb covered in milk chocolate and caramel, topped with chocolate drizzle. Which really is all there is to say about this bar. That is exactly how it tastes.

This bar is surprisingly 237 calories, which I personally wouldn't expect from a crispy treat as they tend to be something you would give to children or something I would consider as a lighter cake option. With 22.3g of sugar  and 9.5g of fat in this bar alone, this is most certainly something you do not want to be eating daily, but is a fantastic Friday treat!

This bar does contain milk and soya, but seems to not contain egg, although not claiming to be egg free. It is also not suitable for nut allergy sufferers due to manufacturing methods.

A quick review to say as this product is quite simple, but delicious, I would recommend giving them a go. I am hoping that M&S may make these in the bitesize tubs like the millionaire's crispies as I think they will great on a buffet table and a treat not just us gluten free lot would enjoy! This way it would save me cutting up the bars!

Kent & Fraser Choc Chip Cookies

Coffee breaks are never complete without a biscuit or two! These snack pack sizes I keep receiving in my snackly box are perfect for me to bring to my office! Containing no artificial additives or preservatives means I won't become a caffeine filled additive run squirrel for the next few hours!

Described as 'Two cookies made with dark chocolate chips, creamy butter and light muscovado sugar. The perfect recipe for an all time classic that is simply hard to resist.' These cookies are sold to me instantly. Looking at the pack these are certified wheat and gluten free, but also do not contain any egg ingredients, although they do not claim to be egg free. These cookies are produced in a bakery that handles nuts and contain soya and milk. If you are diabetic or trying to avoid sugar I don't think that these are the cookies for you as the first ingredient is light muscovado sugar.

When opening my pack I did have a bit of cookie missing, it was only the edge of one but it did give me a giggle when I discovered it wasn't in the bottom of the pack. Comparable to the size of a mainstream Maryland cookies, I found two were perfect for a snack.

In terms of texture I would call these much more of a biscuit than a cookie, as they are crunchy. In my eyes cookies are soft and gooey, nevertheless they were still lovely. Quite aerated crisp mixture, this cookie has a very sweet sugary crunch. Being golden brown, these cookies are cooked to perfection, they have not been overly dried out to a crumbly consistency and there is not odd powdery aftertaste, which is a famous trait of many free from cookies.

Vanilla undertones are present in the cookie base, although not an ingredient itself, the sweetness is subtly there and is very much an vanilla aftertaste. The chips are quite soft in comparison to the cookie so there is a prominent contrast and as a result makes the chocolate chips seem so much more creamy and rich in flavour. My only complaint is the chocolate chip distribution is very inconsistent, one of my cookies had six or seven chips, whereas the other only had one. This means if you were sharing someone will feel a little hard done by! (but honestly you wouldn't catch me sharing!)

A full size box will set you back £2.30, which I think is more or less the price you pay for most free from biscuits, so I think that this price point is reasonable. I would be less inclined to buy this flavour over the other flavours Kent and Fraser produce however due to having a lack of chocolate chips in my cookie. If I am buying chocolate chip cookies, I would like a good amount of chips, so I would be more inclined to buy the Morisons choc chip cookies. Nevertheless, I have tried a variety of Kent & Frasers cookies and I would recommend trying them. I would have brought these again if I could guarantee even chips in each cookie.

I would love to know what you think these cookies if you have tried them. I am hoping I just had a odd one with only one chip!

Nature's Store & Holland & Barret Haul

This week was pay day, which always leads me to treat myself. I was on Facebook and Nature's Store were giving away free corn rolls with every order. James and I ate these whilst away and enjoyed them so I thought why not! I have wanted to try more of the range.

So here's what I got!

Swiss Chocolate Muesli - £2.99
I have seen this on the internet here and there and wanted to try something new for breakfast, so I thought that this would be perfect thing to try!

Mini Bread Sticks - £1.59
For grazing or have a snack like lunch, I thought that these would be great to take out and about, or to even have with dips.

Belgian White Chocolate Rice Cakes - £1.70
I love rice cakes and I have never seen white chocolate coated ones, white chocolate is something I enjoy as a sweet treat, so I was intrigued to give these a go!

White Chocolate Caramel Rice Cakes - £1.70
Again, I was intrigued by this flavour, particularly as you tend to see caramel with milk chocolate rather than white.

Rice Cakes Coated with Milk Chocolate Multi Pack - £2.50
I eat all brands of chocolate coated rice cakes and I thought that these would be great on the go as they are pre-packed in two's. Granted that buying them this way is slightly more expensive, but it's fun!

Chilli Corn Rolls - FREE
These are great to dip in sour cream, or even chilli.

This lead me to more shopping Holland and Barrett had the buy one get one half price sale so I ordered a few bits, I am still waiting on the Udis vanilla muesli but here is what else I got!

2 x Eat Real Quinoa chips sour cream and chive - 79p each
I have already eaten one of these and they have the texture of quavers, which really pleased me as I have missed them! Although this is not the same flavour as quavers, these have a lovely flavour and a good amount. I think these make great alternatives to potato crips.

Udis Bagel Chips cheddar and garlic  - £3.50
I have been looking for these for ages, I have used the plain ones for canapé style snacks with cream cheese and salmon, but I have wanted to see if this favour would be good for snacking on the go!

I would love to know if you think there is anything I should try based on the type of things I brought!

Costa Coffee - Gluten Free Coronation Chicken Wrap

I don't know if you remember a few months back that Costa came out with an egg mayonnaise wrap, which I really didn't enjoy. Since then I have just picked up my coffee and cherry bakewells and not looked on the shelf as to my dismay my local one no longer stocked the chicken wrap I loved. Last week I took a quick glance for some reason and noticed the gluten free wrap was not the egg one, but a coronation chicken one instead! Coronation chicken is a filling I love, which you don't see too often in a free from takeaway sandwich, as they tend to be more plain.

Not wanting to miss out I picked it up and thought I'd give it a try. Terrible I know but I didn't even look at the price through all my excitement, I would assume to be £3-£4 as this tends to be the rate of packaged sandwiches. At 375 calories, it is a reasonable wrap to have for lunch, I have taken a quick snap of the front of the box (above) so you can check nutritional information that may be of interest to you.

The wrap itself is filled with chicken, spinach, cucumber and coronation mayonnaise. Obviously having mayonnaise in this, it is unfortunately not suitable for egg or milk allergy sufferers. Like the wraps I have had before from Costa, I believe it is a Warburtons seeded wrap which are soft and quite thick in texture. I love these wraps so I'm pleased Costa do not try and create their own! This wrap is quite fluffy and has no odd aftertaste. Inside there is the coronation mayonnaise coating the wrap. There isn't too much of this but the favour is there, that sweet slightly mango flavour combined with the spinach and cucumber is a perfect pairing! The chicken was the same flame grilled style chicken pieces there was in the chicken and basil wrap, I assume this is present in all of their chicken flavoured wraps, sandwiches and toasties. There is not any raisins or sultanas in sight, which is an ingredient in a typical coronation chicken everyone may not be a fan of, so I think leaving this out was a good decision as it makes it more mainstream for children and those who just don't like wrinkly grapes!

My only grumble about the gluten free wraps from costa is the consistency. I am aware that the ingredients are more than likely weighed, but sometimes I find the wrap seems a little empty and they make sure from above they look full. I have had two of these wraps in the past week and the amount in them can vary slightly. I would prefer it if they packed them out with spinach, so you feel you get a good full wrap rather than a few bits rattling around. This way it will be more nutrious and wouldn't add many calories!

Overall I do really enjoy these wraps and I would most certainly continue to buy them, I am hoping and waiting to see if the Christmas wrap will make a comeback this year! I don't think I ever got around to blogging it, but it is by far the best wrap of the Costa gluten free wrap family! But then again I love all things Christmasy, so it is hardly a fair test!

What do you think of the slightly more adventurous flavour for gluten free? I think its fantastic. I find plain gluten free sandwiches quite a few places now, but having one with a twist, but isn't too out there is great for those of us getting a little bored of egg or chicken salad!

Delicious Alchemy - Vanilla Sponge mix*

Oh Delicious Alchemy... You have never let me down and this product is no exception. I tweeted a few days ago about fancying making the vanilla cake mix but I couldn't decide to leave it plain, add chocolate chips, or mini fudge pieces. Delicious Alchemy tweeted back with why not both, so that is exactly what I did!

I didn't add many mind, so it was more of a hunt the chips, as I didn't want to ruin the texture, seeing as this is the first time I have tried this mix and I didn't want to affect the review. To create the cake, all you need is 180g of butter and three large eggs. If you buy a 250g block of butter I found the left overs was the perfect amount for the butter icing I made!

I opened the mix and added it to the mixer, the consistency was almost as finely milled as icing sugar and was very white too, which I found interesting and different to most mixes I have seen. To this I added the butter and creamed together. Once that was done I beat in the eggs, choc chips and fudge. I had the mixture run for a few minutes, I have found the key to gluten free cooking is to fill the mixture with as much air as you can. This way you don't end up with a pancake!

These were then popped in the oven for 20-25 minutes at 180. The timing on this was perfect. I tend to have to add a couple of minutes to my gas cooker but using the electric one I did seemed to be more on time. I guess it just depends on where you live and the type of oven you have!

Straight out of the oven, the sponges looked just like the gluten filled Victoria sponge my gran makes, so this was a good sign, evenly domed and golden! Once cooled I sandwiched the cake with some basic butter icing.

Cutting into the cake the texture looked perfect, great aeration and soft to the touch. Nothing crumbled away and I have since found it travels well too, as I have been bringing bits to my office! The flavour is second to none, I gave a piece to my mum and she had to ask me three times if it was a gluten free cake and she thought it tastes just like any cake she would normally eat! In her words 'there is no dry bicarbonate powderiness you get with a lot, I honestly don't believe it! It tastes like your Grans'. If you have ever been lucky enough to try my Gran's Victoria spoke, you know this is high praise! The moisture, texture, flavour and presentation of this cake was perfect.

The mix retails at £2.99 on their website and £3.50 at most retailers. I added around £1.80 of butter and eggs. So for one cake, depending on the supermarkets you use for your eggs and butter you can make a cake for under £5. This cake is a similar size to the M&S birthday cake I reviewed earlier in the week and is half the price, of course that was decorated but you could decorate this cake too, more than likely for less than £5, which makes this a good budget option when considering birthdays and celebrations, as you can also personalise it too.

I would certainly be buying this mix again. I think I would love to try to create a 'cream tea' style cake with clotted cream and jam in the centre!

I would love to see if you have used this mix as a base for any baking creations or even just as a Victoria sponge!

Chippa Sauces Haul*

I am one hell of a sucker for packaging, so when I was asked if I would like to try some of the Chippa sauces, I took one look of the packing and was sold!

I have found these are sold in Sainsbury's and retail at £1.50 but I have found them on offer for £1 recently, meaning that these sauces are quite affordable and readily available. Where a majority of Chippa products are free from more than one allergen, they are great to have in the cupboard ready for any visitors that may have special requirements, particularly as they have a good shelf life, with mine being good until November next year!

Being owned by the Tiger Tiger brand (as says on the back of the label) I have tried a couple of these products before, it will be great to see if they have a new recipe to go with the new branding.

So here is what I got:

Tomato Ketchup
I know what you are all thinking, all ketchup is gluten free, I agree I find labeled gluten free ketchups lead our families and friends to think they need to buy us separate ketchup from what they have. Although I can forgive this product as it has such a reasonable price point. Many I have seen labeled gluten free can fetch up to £4! I am not one of these people that like nothing but Heinz, so I am excited to try this and see what the favour is like.

Brown Sauce
This is something that most of the time isn't gluten free so it is great that there is an option on the market. I have seen in the ingredients it does contain barley and I avoid barley as I believe it not to be gluten free. On further investigation I have not found anything that tells me it's ok to eat, as on coeliac UK it is on top of their no list, but I have contacted the company and I will update you on this one! *Upadate* The product claim's to be “Gluten Free” due to being registered to Coeliac Society of UK/Ireland and the product has proved that the Gluten content is <20ppm which satisfy the requirement of claiming gluten free as per Coeliac Society of UK/Ireland.

May-O
A very interesting product indeed. Being free from egg, dairy and gluten, making it perfect for vegans, this product seems to have rapeseed oil, apple and mustard, among an array of other ingredients. It is white just like typical mayonnaise, so lets see if the taste and texture is good!

If you have tried any of Chippas sauces I would love to know what you think. I believe there is 7 in the range to choose from!
